The Nigerian Scam is when you receive an email from
a person located in Nigeria, Africa and their asking for
your help to retrieve funds located in a vault.
My story being a true one, it happened in the summer of
2005. I received an email from a man named Lawrence,
and in the email he told me a story about his father who
was in the ministry. There had been a coup that took over
the government, his father being an official was killed
during this event. Before his death this official had come
across several million dollars in which he stole and deposited it
in a local vault. Lawrence contacted me and asked if I could
help in retrieving the money.
This went on for a few months, I just wanted to play this
out, with no intentions of sending money. Lawrence went
as far as sending photos of money in boxes, as we spoke by
phone several times. What he was asking me to do is send
several thousands to release the funds for back money owed
for monthly expenses for the vault. This is the perfect example
of the "Nigerian Scam".
What I found rather strange is these predators seem to come
out in early summer, it's happened every year since. And
another thing to look for is they all seem to have a Yahoo email
address, though Yahoo is not to blame here.
Just beware, the Nigerian Scam will not go away, be wise!
